Listening to the Land: A Day of Indigenous Learning at Tsuut’ina Nation
On May 31, 2025, Metrax Indigenous Corp. participated in the Indigenous Land Knowledge-Based Training Course, a full-day event hosted by Tsuut’ina Nation in collaboration with Rotary District 5360. Held at the Brown Bear Woman Events Centre, the gathering brought together 23 Rotarians, family members, and friends for an immersive experience in Indigenous culture and history.
Attendees were warmly welcomed by the Starlight family—Bruce Jr., Ellery, Cora, and matriarch Deanna—who shared the rich cultural heritage of the Tsuut’ina people. The day’s teachings encompassed the significance of tobacco offerings and elder protocols, the history and evolution of Powwows, and discussions on contemporary issues facing Indigenous communities. A highlight was the introduction of the “Know Before You Go – Powwow Protocol & Etiquette” resource by Cora Starlight.
Metrax Indigenous Corp. extends heartfelt gratitude to Rotarian Brad Sewall and all members of Rotary District 5360 for organizing this transformative experience.
Support Indigenous Elders in Need of Homes
Many Indigenous Elders in Canada continue to live without safe, adequate housing. Metrax Indigenous Corp. is committed to addressing this issue by building homes for Elders who have contributed immensely to their communities. Through our “Learn-by-Doing” home construction training program, five youth from each First Nation community receive hands-on construction skills training while building each home.
Your support can make a significant difference.
